Meet the Microwave Chef

After a week of amazing food, Peter looks on in amazement as our 'chef' has both her microwaves warming up our supper.

Evening scene in Frascati

The whole square was fully of old people meeting up to chat. How much better is that than watching rubbish on TV,

The Four Fossils make Rome

With a combined age of over 200, the nickname seems quite appropriate. Or perhaps the Four A'Fossils ?

Anyway, we're fired up and cycling hard and fast, working as a real team now. Bring on Southern Italy!

Day 8: heading for Roma

We are in full safety gear: fluorescent jackets, flashing lights, etc. We certainly needed it later, but made it right through Rome and onto Frascati.

Breakfast is served at Lago di Vico

Relaxing in Pienza

Day 7: Passing one of the volcanic lakes

No punctures luckily and through the 500 mile mark.

Our Toughest Day So Far

Here we are leaving Pienza early in the morning not knowing quite what awaited us. 80 miles of very hilly terrain in high temperatures again, finishing with a nearly 3000 foot climb up the side of a volcanic crater. We also got lost/separated twice which ate time, and led to a very long day. We were all shattered.

Morale is high though and we are looking forward to riding through Rome today, albeit with some trepidation about the crazy driving.
